About the Grand

Our History

The Grand Theatre was opened in February 1925 and commissioned by J.R. and S.G. Haselden. Local furniture craftsman J.A. Trumbo was hired to do much of the interior woodwork, and the original lamps located in the box seats were made from Model T car casings. The theater originally held 750 customers, and the stage and screen were complemented by a large pipe organ and piano located in the pit in front of the stage.

After years of dormancy, the theatre was revived with a vision to restore its historical charm and cultural significance. The restoration project was a community effort, bringing together local historians, craftsmen, and volunteers. Today, the theater showcases its rich history and serves as a modern venue for entertainment and cultural events.

Patrons of the Grand Theatre can expect a unique experience where historical elegance meets contemporary comfort. The venue is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, ensuring high-quality performances.

In addition to its regular programming, the Grand Theatre is committed to supporting local talent and the arts to foster a love for the arts in the next generation.

Whether you are a history enthusiast, an arts lover, or someone seeking a memorable outing, the Grand Theatre promises an unforgettable experience.
